A couple of weeks ago, I got some shots of a seal that came ashore. This week, I found a sea lion hanging out at the lifeguard station in Newport Beach. He was under the steps that lead up to the side door. Now I know why they barricade these steps when they leave. The sea lions love to climb things. They even like to climb aboard boats that are docked in the harbor, several of which they have sunk! It's hard to think such a cute little guy like this one can cause so much damage.
I didn't see it at the time of taking the shots, but this poor little guy has at least three fish hooks and line stuck on him. Two of them are on his face (those green things), which you can see in this shot and the third is on his back (a red one).
