I just bought one today from someone here on the forums...I'm excited for it to come! I'll post images when I have some worthy to share.

One of the first test shots from the 24-70 on my old 400D (waiting on the 7D to arrive).

that's an awesome parakeet. how did you get so close with your camera? my parakeet is weird, i can be 10 feet away with a camera and he freaks out, but if i'm at my computer and he's on my shoulder, if my camera is on my desk he will fly over to it and climb all over it. i have to be careful cuz he chases the mouse when i'm using it.

the parakeet was in her cage, and with the wide aperture of the 24-70, the cage bars "dissolved" so I could get a clear shot. I have 2 and I let them out from time to time. they fly around the room like crazy. they aren't used to me yet, so they won't fly to me, but they will hop on my finger when I have millet handy :-)

and yes, I believe they are also called Budgies, but in the U.S. they are called parakeets (I think).

I thought the same thing, but then I would miss the few extra mm (even though I'm shooting crop). my 17-40 is 7 years old (UR date code), but I still wouldn't want to sell it even though there's a big overlap. I could get something more wide angle, but then it just wouldn't have the same feel and quality :-)
