Just like the title says, the 40D I am using has the shutter lag horribly (read 1-2 secs). Even in strong midday light it lags, and I've run 3 different lenses on there so it's not, not finding focus (even on MF it does it). Sometimes it doesn't even shoot...can't figure that one out.

Any help you guys? Shooting a graduation tomorrow and would reallllyyyy like/ need this guy to work properly.

Tried this and used some alcohol on a q-tip utilizing some capillary action and it helped a bit but it's still noticeable. http://www.flickr.com …#comment72157603678519038 (external link)

seems like this is a recurring problem in 40D's...crossed off my idea of having one as a backup

Had this problem with my 50d. Had to send it in finally and they replaced the shutter button assembly. It would be inconvenient but you could use a grip or cable remote to trigger the shutter reliably till you could send it in.
