Did that.
run the daily, weekly and monthly maintenance scripts as well as clear the OS cache (all in OnyX)
Didn't know about those. AFAIK 10.4 didn't have that. 10.5 does?
I'd also use a different cable, restart the machine, confirm the iPod is working on another machine, update the OS to 10.5.6
Did all those and updated the software to 10.5.8
if all else fails create a new user and try there
Once again. How would I do this. I've never had to do any of this. This is the first time my old iMac has ever had any problem of any kind.
If explaining all this to me is too much of a hassel I understand and won't take offense.
