Got a quick question for people who have done/do wedding photographs..

My friend Abby and Simon are getting married later this year and have asked me to do their photos, they know i'm not a professional, know that I wouldn't rip them off and also know that i've never done wedding photos before, but would love me to do it. I said I wouldn't want to charge them much if anything at all, being the close friends that they are, but they don't want me doing it free and would be happy with just CD images for them to print.

Anyone got an idea on what to charge?

Are you going to be doing the whole day, from preparations right up until the first dance, etc?

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

Well i've been invited to the wedding as friend, so yeah i'd do everything possible. Its only a small wedding, and they just want a few decent pictures.

Morning folks!

I trust everyone is cool for school?

got up stupidly early and have been scouring the garden for bugs to snap - I think I have become macro obsessed! (though it took me at least two laps of a small garden to spot anything!) :D

IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4057/4623108377_2a9330f1bb.jpg

can't believe it's only three more sleeps til BIG cats! I am very excited indeed!

have an interesting day ahead in work - may see some much needed changes being made *fingers crossed*

and I am hoping to post some photos of a family of Grey Wagtails I've spotted at the park - but didn't have a telephoto about my person at the time!

@Radders - if it's a friends wedding, make sure if nothing else they cover the cost of any materials and our accomodation! (that's all I asked for my first gig!) :D

Morning all. Work again for me I'm afraid but I am working from home so will have some flexibility. Would quite like to nip down the road to see if I can get any of shots of the first ever Purple Herons to nest in the UK http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/8691070.stm (external link) I know the bloke who runs the RSPB sanctuary here so may get the odd cheeky pointer of where to look.

Very excited about the big cats too. lol@ Lee - 3 more sleeps :) That's what we used to tell the kids at xmas!

Morning Jonathan, TCIK and All

Jonathan we Might be down your way today sometime if I don't get sidetracked - I saw the bit about the Blue Herons in yesterdays (Daily Mail - dare I say Daily Mail in the present company?).

TCIK - I'm glad you're liking the 100mm IS Macro - I find that apart from it's macro abilities it is a good portrait and 100mm prime - sorry to state the obvious. My next posting picture will be with that lens.

Good morning again

Anke - Chris - A few days and many pages ago I mentioned the Rode VideoMic for the 7D - and you expressed an interest - well I pulled the trigger on it and it arrived yesterday. I have not done any proper tests on it yet but my intial impressions are that it works and will be particularly good for interview type shots. I think if there's a problem it will be because we have no control over the input level on the 7D - but these are only first impressions. Is it a 'must have' item? - Hmmm - I won't be sending it back though - I will have to get used to it - It does look a bit conspicuous wandering around with that and a 70-200mm IS L for instance.

Here's a picture - Taken with a 400D and 100mm IS L.

Interesting bit of kit Ray - will be interested to find out how you get on with it. My guess would be that you can alter the audio volume in post.

If you're down my way today give me a bell if you fancy a pint :)

How much did that cost you Ray? I was looking at the Rodes a little while back but forgot to bid on a couple of ebay auctions that went for really cheap

I'm having a clear out of the old camera bag. Seems like I have a few bits that I do not use anynore.

Canon EF 85mm 1.8 (£230)
Canon EF 50mm 1.8 MKII (Nifty Fifty) (£60)
Canon 1.4x teleconverter - used once (£230)

Let me know if interested in any of this.

£80 - postage extra. This seemed the cheapest I could find it and order it from a UK source. I have tried several mics but I think this is probably the best so far - pity its so expensive. I even tried one out of the Pound Shop! Oh' by the way - it has a 10yr gtee - Canon please note.

There is another recommended - Zoom - H4N - but it looks as if it is not so portable at about £150'ish - I think - Anyway - £80 quids enough to spend on a toy. Shush - SWMBO might wonder where the moneys coming from as I just had 2 software deliveries and a new HDD. I wish these carrier firms would be a bit more discrete.
