I really like #1. Car to post your setup/equip for both shots?

Tony I really like #1 and if it were a fashion sot I would say more detail in the shirt but since its not and its about the girl I like it as is.

I got an idea which I find can be very helpful in learning. Instead of having Tony say how he did it why not try and figure it out ourselves. The lighting is always in the eyes if someone hasn't been cloning which I would say hasn't happened here. The lens and dof is also there to some extent. So I think when we try and look at all the clues we can learn more by trying to figure out how he did it than having him hand it to you.

I think I know the lighting he used and without looking at the exif I think I can get close to the lens and the aperture maybe not exact. But then again I should be able to figure it out or close but what do you think? How do you think he did it?

Any way nice shots Tony!!! I'll bet that both she and her family loved them.

I love #2, although the backdrop jars. You have beauty and glamour in the centre of the image, but its framed by a really boring brush backdrop.

All of us don't have the fortune of being able to live in such a beautiful location such as yours :)

I agree, but just to get em started.
Looks like in the first shot clam shell lighting was used, 1 light camera right with a reflector at her waist for fill (actually you can see the edge of the reflector in the bottom left of the photo).

Thanks folks for your comments. As the season progresses we will be posting at least one shot from each of our 2011 seniors here. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask.

Lighting for these two shots:
#1 Bonnie is of course setting on a set of stairs with her right knee up on a step to provide support for her right elbow... you can just see her jeans in the lower left below her elbow. There is a window light... camera left A 3x4 sunbounce reflector camera right providing fill and a large larson reflector providing some light bounce back to the stair well behind Bonnie.

#2 AB1600 w/beauty dish. 10 feet away with me laying in the water on my belly.... between the dish and Bonnie.... to get this shot. The things we do.... :-)

First off, NICE work!!!!
I really dig #2 :D

You sure the window wasn't on the camera right and reflector left for the 1st shot? Is the bottom catchlight the reflector bouncing light back to the stairs?

Thanks in advance
