For me, it would have to be one of the tele lenses, as there aren't really any non L lenses that I could use instead. In a lot of the other focal lengths, there is nearly always something pretty decent in the non-L variety, but not so with long focal lengths.
If I had to name one, I'd say the 100-400mm

Are you asking for free or if I had to pay? If it were free I would want the 50mm 1.2L. If you're asking me to pay then I would want the 135L. I would also want the 24-104L IS also. Yes I am cheating but I can't just have one lens.

Canon 7D / 50D / 30D / SL1 / XT

If you had to pay...

My best lens is a 50mm USM f1.4. Next is the 70-200mm IS/USM f4, then the 18-200mm EF-S USM/IS f 3.5, which is the most versatile...

Probably something that goes from wide to short telephoto, so 24-105L if you shoot FF/1.3x. If you shoot 1.6x, then forget about an L lens and get a 15-85.

I would pick the 1200mm f/5.6L. Then I would sell it. (The going price is around $120,000).
