Hey all,

I have been through the search and can't find what I am looking for, so thought I would start a new one and see if it progresses. I will be travelling through these three parks via Canada (i.e. North to South) from Late July. I have given myself about 2.5 weeks for the trip, leaving 3-5 days in each of the the 3 mentioned parks for camping. I know the distances are big, but have done similar road trips and that is really not a concern.

Now to the big question. I know there is considerable experience from very talented photographers on this site who frequent these spots and I hope you will contribute your experiences (and future hopes) in order to compile a sort of "must see tick list" for photographers. Ideally some information that extends beyond the place name would be great. Direction, GPS, favorite season, time of day, etc etc.

The entire prospect of heading here is daunting and the more I look into it the more overwhelming and exciting it is. A forum style database would go a long way to helping organize travel plans and think that it could be appreciated by many people in our little community.

Of course I will contribute once I have actually visited these sites, but for now I am at the mercy of those who can share their knowledge and experiences!

Thanks in advance,

Kf

I've done the Yellowstone on the way back from a South Dakota/wyoming road trip.

One of the reasons it's tough to get a lot of responses in this type of forum is that everyones interests are different. Its not like this is Arches NP or Grand Canyon. You can get photos of Old Faithful then spend 3 days taking pictures of geysers if thats what turns your crank. Or you can spend days photographing wildlife.

My suggestion is to get good maps (or a GPS) so you can find your way around.

Go to the website http://www.yellowstone.net (external link) and see what they say.

They even have the top ten attractions here http://www.yellowstone.net/topten.htm (external link)

Don't overplan. Just go and have fun and take pictures.

The only thing very important to plan is where your staying.

Good luck.

I got this book (external link) when I visited in 2008. It's really good.
