Planning to go to the South Island most of our
trip..What is a MUST do snd SEE and what gear sould i bring

cant remember the name of the place of the top of my head... the mirror lakes is that its called, absolutely phenomenal!!! i was there in 07..
As for what gear - im not too sure, i had a small point and shoot camera, and i still got some good shots!!
its really a lovely place (all of the south island)

For lenses, be aware that airlines that fly to NZ are very strict on carryon weight (especially Air NZ). You will want a reasonably wide lens, and mid range zoom. Not sure what gear you have, but something in the 11-16 range, and 24-105 should suit most situations. If you've still got the weight in the carryon - and you want to get some closer shots of animals, then a 70-200 (with a teleconveter) might be a good bet as well.
