Now that my 8-16mm is on its way, I've officially begun saving for a 7D. I think I'll be able to get one around my birthday in september. I just hope I can wait that long without going nuts. :D

In the meantime I've been watching reviews and stuff on youtube. Came across this extremely depressing video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFPn0KndTSE (external link)

At first I thought it might be a joke, but when he mounted the lens, many puppies died and babies cried. Darth Vader's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" comes to mind. My 300 L started weeping too...

I think the first and third photos are very extremely interesting. I typically don't like and don't follow the "rule of thirds". But here you have used that to great advantage. Usually I wouldn't much like so much snow in the foreground, but here I think it really emphasizes the wintery aspect of the photo...how long winter hangs around at this location. And in the lake photo, you have wonderfully emphasized the key elements of the photo -- the sky, the mountains in the distance, the deep water, and even the shallow water...all in one great shot. Really well done. bw!

The middle photo doesn't quite make it. Just seems like a snapshot with too much sky. I hate to think of how many of those shots I took before I began to learn the art of cropping wisely. One of the joys of digital photography!

I agree with you - these are good. I think many snow shots, and this is a good example, would benefit from "HDR" treatment. There is texture to the snow in the foreground, but it's not visible in the picture.

Don't tell anyone, but I've been known to use an 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS occasionally.

This was from a teaparty in the park and this aged man was playing some old english tunes on his guitar for the crowd enjoying their cup of tea. :)

Nice! I'd like to know how you did it, if you don't mind sharing. I had thought about trying something similar with my car, but at sunset with a horizon glowing behind it.
