Osprey landing in nest

took this one in yellowstone a few weeks ago as it was landing back to its nest

What do you guys do, climb a tree near the nest to get shots this good? The Osprey nest I know of is so high up that I would need an 800mm with a 2x on there. Excellent shots!

From where the ospreys eyes appear to be focused it was sizing the photographer up as a meal. outstanding shot

Beautiful shots Tekkie......one would think as close to the coast as I am and as often as I'm there, that these would be all over the place.........I've only seen them twice and they were so high up there was no chance of getting any shots.

the nest was pretty high but it was on the side of the cliff overlooking the yellowstone river and you could get a view from an overhang, still this is with a 7D, 500L + 1.4TC and cropped a bit

probably will never come across such an awesome nest again though

no I know which one your talking about I have some pics of it but your shooting straight down on that one, I screwed up some good shots of them landing with fish while I was there, I didnt realize my dial button had moved from AV to M !!! I hate the new dial on the 7d its to rubbery and is easily moved by mistake
