In 1976 used Canon F-1 (my first SLR) with FD 50mm f1.4. THAT is a great lens and the F-1's standard focusing screen made manual focusing a pleasure. Found that is all I needed for years, then experimented with a Vivitar FD 200mm f3.5, a Vivitar S1 FD 70-210. Added a FD Bellows (still have all of this and pulled out the F-1/50mm f1.4 and shot a roll a few months ago -- film can still be fun!) for incredible macro photography. Then EOS Elan with EF 28-135mm USM into the world of autofocus and several other EF lenses (no Ls) -- that camera and lenses were all stolen (now have insurance . . .). Then to my current main camera, my 40D with the 17-85mm IS (I've gotten a lot of good picutres from this lens, it could be better, but it isn't as bad as it's reputation and can be very sharp), a EF 200mm f2.8L, then the EF 85mm f1.8. I'm now experimenting with purchasing lenses and am investing in them -- I unfortunately have that bug now. :-) Dave
