This DOS Based SW just recovered files from a friends mom's G9.
The SD card had pix on it, formatted, more pix, formatted again and then sent to me.
It recovered ALL of the pictures.

Pretty impressive

Hi,

This is my situation, I had no idea that I could even recover data after accidentally formatting the card (Canon Eos 30D, SanDisk) so I went ahead and used the card :-(

(My previous thread)

I've tried many of the simpler software none of which has worked - this one could be my only hope, but I'm stuck on how to use it!! I get to the window after selecting the drive, where it gives me the option of selecting the partition table type - I have no idea what this even means and I'm scared of causing some damage or something...point and click is about as technical as I get with this kind of thing!

If anyone could spare me a minute and explain a thing or two about this software (or if I'm definitely not getting my images back!) I would be most grateful! :)

Thanks a lot

Puddy

Your partition table type will be FAT32. If all you did was reformat the card you should be able to retrieve most of your pictures. If you reformatted it and went out to photograph some more, your prospects will be greatly reduced.

ok so my Sandisk ultra II CF card kept giving me error on my 20D and if i tried to open it on my PC i get a prompt to format it. I got help from another user telling me about photo rescue but i only lost maybe 20 pictures at most that i didn't transfer to my external hard drive.

for the card to be useable again, i'm supposed to reformat it. do i do a quick format or not? and after i format it, do i need to add any new drives or stuffs to the card? i'm not a computer wiz :P

Do a full format, not a quick format. Then format it again in your camera. You don't need to add anything to it; the camera knows what to put on it. But I'd run a few tests copying files onto and off of the card from your computer until full before I put it back into operation, if I were you. And if this happens again, junk it.

If it were me, I'd use one of the various rescue programs here to get your 20 images back and then I'd trash the card. They're cheap enough now to no make the risk necessary.

I've used Recuva after accidentally deleting pics (about 25 total) on a Transecnd card and then prior to realizing my screw up I took new pics on the card. Recuva still found my deleted pics so I was able to recover them. Maybe I was lucky or maybe it's a really good recovery software. Either way, I was very pleased with the result. :D

Just used the RescuePro Software to recover all the pictures that I took last night at my brothers graduation. I tried some of the other softwares but RescuePro found over 500 while the other programs found 5-10

Is there a software that can recover files from my CF card of my DSLR without me having to use a card reader? I want to put the CF card in my 40D, and then plug the 40D into my computer and recover the image from the 40D. Has anyone done it off the camera to the computer like that?

If you have a camera and computer that will let you view the camera's memory card as another drive on the computer, any software would. If the computer only recognizes the camera as an image source, you will need a card reader.

Well my 40D on Windows 7 shows up as EOS 40D in My Computer, and inside that is the memory card like a reader would show it. So I was just wondering if someone here has any experience recovering files off the card when it is in the camera.

Just used this one and it recovered all the photos I had accidentally deleted and a few from a mass deletion before that.

Thanks so much for the link(s), knew it was possible, just not that easily.
