Upgraded to a 50D a few weeks ago from a XS. I have the XS kit lens (18-55mm IS) but am looking to upgrade. I like having the IS function and was interested in the 24-70mm f/2.8L up until I realized it was non-IS. Any suggestions in great quality lens either first or third party lenses???

If you like the 24-70 but need IS, consider the 24-105L. Its f/4 but a great lens.

Yep, between the 24-70L, 24-105L, and 17-55 (non-L ;) ), it's hard to go wrong. Just pick one that covers the focal lengths you want at the speed you want.

Awesome, thanks for all the ideas. Gonna go mull over this decision some more.
