This was the first lens I ever splashed the cash on, and it's my favourite for all kinds of shooting. I've found all my shots with it to be brilliantly sharp.

Not neccessarily. This thing is sharp enough for 50% crops on my XS, allowing you to see eyes.

Love this lens!

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing- but it looks like about two extension tube sets or one and an half.

Hi guys, thanks for the comments.

No extension tubes – just the 100mm F2.8 on a 40D.

Here are full frame down-sampled originals straight out of camera. The eye photos are full res crops from these frames. We have big flies down under!
