I have a great local camera shop, they were looking at a problem I have using auto focus on my back up camera - my XTi. Turns out the auto focus circuitry is fried - it doesn't communicate properly with the lens. It needs to be sent to Canon to be replaced.

I guess Canon charges $250 for it? The camera probably isn't worth that much but I need a backup camera until I can replace it so I think I'll be sending it in.

Has anyone had to do this before and had GOOD results? Sending lenses into Canon for recalibration has been hit/miss for me so I'm not sure if I should bother spending money on a camera that may not be worth that much, especially if the repair won't fix it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Not an option - don't have $150 more. I either get this fixed or put it toward my 5Dmkii purchase in December and go without a reliable backup camera
