working on finding balance using skin smoothing...is it too overdone?? Thanks!

I think the skin is overdone. Try not using any blur and just zoom in very close (300%) and fix all the small problems. The more you do, the more you will see.
The highlights are also blown, a light meter would help. (unless you did this in pp)
The light ratio is OK.

Thanks, it looks overdone to me also...I'll try again. I did bump the highlights
in pp. Thanks again, I guess I got carried away. It's a bit of a challenge when they're are lots
of freckles to deal with.

I like the skin tone darkened just enough to not have the washed out look on forehead, etc. It would be good to see the original to see how much work you actually did. Some models are plastered with enough makeup to barely need any PP, or maybe they've been blessed with such good skin.

Are you using Photoshop, Lightroom...?

Thanks for responding Ed, I will try to post the original when I get home.
I used portrait professional... I didn't have anywhere near enough
makeup on (foundation wise) so I should start with that first next time :)
