Crazy portrait

One of my latest portraits, I would love to hear your C&C!

Expression makes this look like a snapshot. I'm not into it. I struggle with the B&W conversion. My conversions look like this, greyscale with a blue tint.

Too bad you're not 'into it', next time I'll try to make it less snapshot-like. Since I only recently went into people photography, critique on the technical aspects would be appreciated too!

Although the I agree with Rsyx in terms of composition, I like the lighting

can you post the original in color, i like the lighting but the bw conversion is a little gray. Maybe you could work on the conversion

I like the color version much better. As stated, I'm not really a fan of the expression (EXTREMELY SUBJECTIVE!). On to the technical side. Good light, the ratio works well in the color version. A bit more light, may help the "pop" factor. I'd personally frame this a bit looser, as the crop is going to limit the sizing of the image, when it comes time to print. I would use a touch of fill flash, as that would add a catch light, making the eyes "come alive". I might have also, although, I don't always, frame shots like these off center, using the rule of thirds. I personally like the use of negative space in images like these. Another thought, possibly framing this in a vertical orientation is another option. Simply food for thought.

i liked the b&w version, its greyish sure, but it also goes with the mood of the photo. too much contrast would be too moody..serious, unlike the expression of the persons.

Yeah, I would've liked to add more light in the photo. I'll probably get a 580EXII soon so that I can get started with an umbrella, softbox and maybe a beautydish. I think it would indeed look nice with a looser framing, not putting the portait in the center of the frame.

As for the printing, I think my girlfriend would kill me if I would print this. I hardly got permission to post this on the forums here!

Kudos for the pose and post - fun is a good thing even in photography.
Actually, I prefer the BW and the crop.
I went a bit further...no need to do cosmetic work on her as it is after all fun n crazy:

Spike44, did you take down the contrast and clarity a bit, or may I ask you how you edited the image?
