The 1514 from B&H. I got this as a carryon to take the weight off my back. I'll use the backpack on the plane for books and sandwiches.

Definitely not as uber as some of the mega cases in this thread, but my humble setup (as photographed by the Blackberry Curve mkII f/938.7):

Just picked up the case today, a 1450. Glad I didn't do any smaller since this one is already kinda pushing it. Holding a 40d with 24-70 f/2.8L attached, 70-200 f/2.8L IS on the side, 580exII on the other side, and just enough space to squeeze in the spare 40d battery, a circular polarizer, and a few CF cards.

After a close call with the above gear packed in a Crumpler Whickey and Cox in a door-less Jeep during a few river crossings... let's just say I'm not taking that chance again.

40D - 24-70 f/2.8L - 70-200 f/2.8L IS - 50 f/1.8 II - 580EX II - 486RC2/055MF3

thanks.

What case is this one?

Edit: Nevermind, found it on your Flickr account. Its a 1510.

Thanks for posting this pic! I was wondering whether or not the VBII would fit in the 1510 as I was hoping to pick one up to hold the VBII and my Elinchrom 600RX with room for a power cable and a few smaller accessories. Looks like it will, Ill just have to get the foam inserts and cut them in half to more securely hold the monolight. Any idea if the VBII would still fit with the padded dividers in the 1510?

The Vagabond II will not fit in the 1510 if you had the padded dividers, with no padding at all the Vagabond just fits in perfectly, with almost no slack.

I wouldn't reccomend getting the pick/pluck foam and hacking it up either... I've you have used the pick/pluck foam you will realize it's pre-scored to pull apart easily in the middle, but the outside of the foam isn't scored in a similar manner, this keeps some as an outside protective shield. So if you hack 1/3rd of it off, the pick and pluck foam will be just up against the edge and it will quickly fall apart.

... I honestly do not like the pick/pluck foam, anyone who actually really uses their gear on a regular basis will see that it pretty quickly falls apart. I'd reccomend if you want that type of protection find a custom case company that can measure your gear and custom cut foam exactly to size... the foam the case companies will use is much denser and won't fall apart. Local to me there is company Cabbage Cases (external link) that will measure things out, and have things cut to size for a really reasonable price.

Finally I'd suggest just buying two cases... using one case to carry everything is something your likely to out grow. I own multiple cases and organize things by function. For me it makes expanding and changing gear easier, not to mention it's more modular allowing me to quickly grab what I need for a specific shoot (I rarely take everything out with me). In the world of camera gear... cases are cheap.

Can get some, but it will be a couple of weeks before I can get all of our gear together like that.

Thanks to everyone who posted their loaded cases in this thread - it was a big help!

Not much representation for the 1604 (aka 1600 with padded dividers), which is the one I decided to go with.

Here's how it turned out:

All these posts are about packing and protecting what's inside the case. I just thought it would be important to link to this thread on how to protect the case itself.

Pelican had their factory sale so I got all this for 290$
I havent distributed it yet but I am thinking of using the big ones as my luggage for clothes and stuff when not used for photography stuff. It has the pull and pluck foam cubes

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.
