The strobe setup is kind of our invention.

We take a Quantum Q5 and mount it on a monopod with a Turbo 2X2 battery and Pocket Wizard. Pocket Wizard on camera body. My assistant follows me around the dance floor extending the monopod and Quantum over or off to the side and over. Advantages are 1) lighting is even, 2) light is where I want it and never direct on, 3) recharge flash is 1 second or less, 4) I can get a full night with no battery swaps. We have a nickname: “light-on-a stick”.

We don’t use strobes or flash much. I do not like the artificial look. But sometimes it is needed so we try and give our clients a “studio” look by using the light-on-a-stick.

Once in a while we can get creative. Remember no setup time is allowed. Just be ready and do it! Assistant move the light-on-a-stick behind the couple on their first dance and capture.

Very cool, Dan! I'm gonna have to copy cat this, sounds like a great idea.
