What ISO do you use most of the time?

I have shot at any where from ISO 100 to 128,000. Yes, 128,000 to get a grainly shot...instead of no shot. Depends on the circumstances.

I try to keep it between 100-400, no more but if conditions call for it I'll shoot at 12,800 if I have to....

I don't like to shoot above 1200 because at higher ISO noise begins to degrade the shot.

On the 7D I'm mostly at 100-400 outdoors and 1600-3200 indoors.
But it depends on what I'm shooting (ie fast-moving objects) and if I have a mono/tripod handy.

5D mkII

iso 640 & 1250 most of the time. When I'm done, I will usually leave camera on 640 so that it's ready for almost anything if I need to pull it out and shoot quickly without time to set up.

With my 20D usually 200, but it really does depend on what I'm trying to achieve in the final image and of course as said already, sometimes it's a choice between a grainy/noisy shot or no shot at all. I took some theatre shots last year at 3200 and converted to B&W and the images were very reminiscent of the pushed Tri-X shots of yore..

With the 50D I'm still playing around with it to find the best settings for me.

I use 1D MkII, 40D and 400d and set the ISO to whatever I need to achieve the shot I'm after.

I stick to 100 and 200 most of the time. When I know I'm going to be indoors or if its gloomy outside, I may go to 400.

ISO 100 if I can...but again, dependent on what I need to get the shot.

These are non native ISO's for the camera. Are you shooting in JPEG only?

i have no pictures right now but i bought myself a EOS D1000. I am pretty new to advanced photography so I am thankful for any comment on lenses or teniques.

You should start your own thread for that, you'll get lots of help on POTN just weed out those that don't really help. The 1000D is an awesome camera to learn on, stick to your kit lens until you've learn to master your technics.
