Hey everyone...there have been a few Dayton Air Show threads over the past few days so I thought I'd make my contribution.

First off...I am a VERY amateur photographer and just trying to figure out what I'm doing. Secondly, I suck at Photoshop so these are pretty much right out of the camera except for a few small adjustments.

These are all with a 40D that I've had for a few years and with a 100-400L that I just got the day before the show. I've never really tried to capture a moving target let alone an airplane going 700+ mph so needless to say that day was quite a learning experience for me. I read all of the tips and tricks here on the forum but nothing really turned out quite as well as I was hoping but I guess I have to start somewhere.

For a first time, I'd say you did quite well.

Shooting aircraft isn't like shooting Ducks. It takes practice and there is a bit of a learning curve involved before you get settings dialed in that can be repeated on demand.

The Sean Tucker shot is very good (but could use a little help lifting the black level a bit .. shadows are a little dense.)

Well Done!
