Previuosly I have used this camera at the higher 6400. All of a sudden I cannot get the camera to set this ISO only upto 3200. Having checked C.Fn1-3 to ensure this was set correctly (which it was) I'm abit bemused why neither of my boddies will allow me to select 6400 or the lower ISO 50. The only thing I can recall being changed is a firmware update to v1.3.0.

Anyone any idea's?

Switch ISO expansion on and off?
Reset camera by taking out both batteries?

(aha I can't spell :D)

Strange...

I did a quick google and can't find anything - try calling Canon maybe?
Alternatively - could something have gone wrong during the update process?

Just been intouch with Canon but no real help. Tech support suggest sending bodies in for service as fault maybe internal. Strange its with both camera's. Just emailed customer support contact to see what they say.

Problem solved

If setting C.Fn2-3 Highlight Tone Priority this restricts ISO range to 200-3200 regardless of C.Fn1-3 setting.

Lesson learnt dont bother phoning Canon tech support as they dont know what they are talking about (suggested it was a camera fault and retun it for servicing). Thank god I had a contact at Canon customer support.

The ISO value changing from 3200 to 32oo should be what gives you a clue on the highlight priority...(plus the manual calls that out)

We know what we are talking about here on POTN, Nicko gave the answer within 20 min of the thread creation! :)

Only RTFM about ISO value in C.FN1-3 and totally forgot about the Highlight Tone Prioity setting. Nicko must have posted about the same time as I posted and missed it. Only spotted it after I posted the solution. Good to know that if Canon cannot supply a solution then I can always try here :)

I think Canon should start teaching their techs from the POTN board.

Yeah I panicked over the same issue when I first got my MKIII, you also can't go below ISO 200 when you are in Highlight tone priority but it sure is a great feature when you need it.

Luckily I had a contact at the "higher level" tech support and emailed her who replied very swiftly with the answer. Knowledge is there IF you can get to the right level!
