I am looking for a good backup solution while traveling but also while shooting weddings. I want a device I can throw my cards into after they're shot and create a backup, not to delete the cards afterward but to have two copies almost soon after the images are made. I just finished u pan engagement session tonight and realized I wish I had a device I could dump the cards on easily for a little peace of mind in case anything happened on the way home.

I found this guy at BH

and the price is very attractive compared to a similarly sized Epson. Anybody have any experience with this product?

I am too looking for this type of product for weddings. I just found out about the memorykick si today and I have been reading tons of great things about it. I know the transfer speeds are supposed to blow the epson out of the water but the epson has by far a better screen for viewing. Other benefits to the epson is a removable battery where the memorykick battery is built in to the unit. I believe the memorykick is smaller as well. I know the epsons tend to be bulky (i had an older p2000 for a while). I am really considering the memorykick or a hyperdrive colorspace.

I'd go for the Hyperdrive Colorspace UDMA. You can get one of those, plus a 320GB drive for less than the Memorykick. No, it doesn't have a pretty screen - but who needs one on a backup device?

I am still leaning this route for removable battery and ability to change out the hard drive. Transfer sores are almost as fast as memorykick but it also does have memory card recovery which might be nice for wedding use.

Think about a laptop with two internal drives and a Lexar Expresscard reader in the 34/54 card slot? You can get 2.5" drives 7200rpm drives with at least 750GB capacity. If you will settle for 5400rpm drives, they you can over 1TB drives.

I would think investing in a single laptop and two internal drives (one external via eSATA) might be better than a dedicated niche backup device...and also owning a laptop.

OK for weddings, as long as there's power available. Not so good for travelling.

Event weddings I like to have something in my pocket I can pull out and download pics immediately after the carsa fill. I use a laptop now and I can't always make it back there to download right away or the battery end up dying so I can't download the pics. I don't know about the hyprdrives but the memorykicks battery can download 250gb of photos on one charge

a laptop tho, isn't very portable on the run when trying to do things.

I'd look into the Hyperdrive colorspace, user servicable battery and hdd.

the Epson P-xxxx series are great but slower and less servicable.

The memorykick is fully compatible with raw files.

From what i understand reading about the product it has a pretty good raw system without much wait time loading pics while viewing.
