Not sure if this was wide known or not but Canon has added a few more bodies and kits to their loyalty program. Or at least from the last time I called which was a few months ago:

XS: Body only 319.99
XSI: Body only 335.00 With 18-55 IS 399.00
T1i: Body only 455.00 With 18-55 IS 519.99
40D: Body only 559.00 With 28-135 IS 719.00
50D: Body only 719.00 With 28-135 IS 830.00

I didn't ask any further than that but I have heard that they have 7D's and 5DII as well.

7D and 5Dii are not available through CLP though some have claimed to have been offered refurbs from the Customer Service department. Oh, and FF and 1.3x crops are still not eligible for the CLP. :(

Loyalty Program?

Sound like this:

Customer Loyalty Program's direct number is 866-443-8002, option 2 for digital camera upgrades.

In-stock orders cannot be modified or canceled! That said, here are the four easy steps:

1) Specify that you have a broken Canon XYZ camera and would like to know what the loyalty upgrade options are. They will try to transfer you to a technician, but you can tell them you just want to know the prices first and the rep can give them to you.

2) Once you are ready, call again. This time, you will get transfered to a technician, who will ask you to desribe the issues. They would verify that

1) it's broken* and 2) it's out of warranty (just say you've had it for a over a year). Then, he would ask for the broken camera's serial number, your name, phone, address and email.
(*TIP: if you specify water damage, e.g., it won't turn on after it got wet, they will accept it as broken for sure)

3) The technician will give you the prices as well, then transfer you back to the loyalty program rep, who will take your name, phone, address again as well as your credit card. You will get the order number.
Shipping options:
$10 2-business days
$20 1-business day
Plus state sales tax where applicable

4) Canon will ship you the replacement camera with Fedex signature required, along with a prepaid Fedex label and a box for you to ship your broken camera to them. You must ship it to them within 10 business days to avoid unreturned product fee. You only need to ship the camera body, so you can keep all accesories (batteries, charger, straps, etc.).

The 7D (refurb) is available for $1119.00. I'm sure the 5D II is currently not an option.

It's refurbished, but from everyone I have talked to the camera is essentially brand new in appearance and function.

Actually, Canon just completely revamped their Loyalty program. You can now upgrade to ANY body that they offer FROM any body! I just sent in my 7-year-old Powershot s50 and ordered a freaking 5d2! With free shipping AND a free return label for the old camera! Can you tell I'm excited?!?!?

The only problem is that they add your state sales tax, because Canon has a store in every state. Humph!

$1675 + your state sales tax. It's a factory refurb, yeah, but in practice the ONLY differences between it and a new one would be that it comes in a different box and the warranty is only 90 days.

And might I add that the people there are wicked nice!

Just did this for my Rebel XT and went to a 7D. The camera comes in a white box with brand new accessories, manuals, etc. The camera itself had a gold sticker on the bottom that said refurbished, but it peeled right off.

Yeah the 7d is also a ridiculous deal. $1119!
