Obviously, they don't use this livery when flying in combat :)

I can't speak highly enough of this lens.

Jets are amazing but why is it flying off a digital page and the wing smoke being auto masked jaggedly? I think it would be a great shot without any of the latter.

Can't wait to get this lens, picking it up tomorrow!

Nice shot. I do notice some noise in shadow area. Is that from PP or from the camera?

Just to reassure you of this lens performance, a 100% crop on 5D (no PP, ~160mm) of S. Simon Piccolo church in Venice

I have to say I used this for the first time with my brand new Canon 1.4x II TC and the quality was noticeable worse (not even looking at 100% crops), and AF was worse as well, to the point where I gave up and continued shooting softball without it.

Geoff I was surprised at your views till I read the softball part - if you were shooting indoors and in poor lighting it might be that pushing the lens to an f4 was just too much and that any f4 would have struggled where the f2.8 (without the 1.4TC) was able to perform well.

I'd give the teleconverter another try in better lighting - even with the original of this lens its performance with the 1.4TC was very good so do make sure it is (could be a problem with your TC if its really giving horrible results in good lighting)

I tried this in the studio today. I'm still happy with the results.

This was outdoors on a sunny summer day, I was getting shutter speeds of 1/2000+ at f/4. I was using AI SERVO and afterwords I had a lot more OOF shots, and the image actually seemed to be worse then if I just cropped the original without the TC. I'll give it another shot, but so far it wasn't what I was hoping for :(

Just wanna ask.

Does anyone get the funky 'worn brake' sound besides the swoosh when it's focusing? Doesn't happen all time only when it's making small adjustments.

Just want to know if it's normal. :)
