I do Lonnie! I have the same set up you just described.

I need to rtm for the 5d2 as I think it has some sort of built in flash triggering.

I would be using my 580 in a park setting, would like to get it off to the side with maybe a reflector.

when we shot canon, we just used batteries for the flash
a wireless trigger (we had skyports but either that or pocket wizards will fire it) and the flash/umbrella/stand. I'm not sure you can use a wired trigger for your flash. I don't remember there being a plug in option for canon flashes.

It's a bit easier now since we don't need the triggers. Otherwise it's still the same.

this is just one of those days that I wish we lived in a rural Idaho town that delivers farm fresh milk and donuts.

Not sure if they deliver milk & donuts, but the invitation stands for when we're out there the end of this month (only problem is the landlord has a "no pets" clause).

Do you have more than one flash? I sometimes use my 420EX, mounted on a tripod away from the camera. I fire it as a slave, controlled by the 580EX set as master.

yes, that is a good way too. That's basically what we do as well.

I wish we could Jon. Dan is doing a wedding up in WA at the end of the month. We have friends near Great Falls that have a guest house (pets are ok) but we just can't get away.

So do you board your dogs when you travel?

HAPPYBIRTHDAY CHIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too many !!!!!!'s to count!! Thanks.:lol:

We used to take Dollie with us, but it became apparent on the last couple trips that she was enjoying the trips less and less. We didn't want to board her. That's even more traumatic for her than riding in the truck.

We finally decided to hire a pet sitter, and we interviewed a couple of them. One we just didn't like, and Dollie wasn't much impressed either. The other lied to us about being bonded, and when we pressed her on it, she admitted it was too expensive to keep, so she let it go.

We finally decided to hire the police chief's daughter. She came to the house 2-3 times a day, checked everything out, played with Dollie, and gave us incredible peace of mind. We paid her what the 'professionals' were charging, and was no doubt very grateful for the money.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Good morning everyone.

So sorry I haven't been able to stop by for a while. Things have been pretty busy trying to get my daughter ready to go off to Montana for college in a couple of weeks.

I have been trying to stay caught up in here but it has been tough. I hope everyone is well.

When we can't take the guys along, we have a pet sitter who comes in to feed and exercise them. For Galapagos, Idaho and the like, they get Pawsitively Precious coming in. For NC, where we're in charge, they come along. And that made a major change for BooBoo. He'd never (8 years old) been on a leash as far as we know; when Ann picked him up, she had to carry him into the vet - he wasn't walking, not nohow. Since there's no fenced back yard to let him out in at the condo, everyone gets walked on a leash. After the first couple of days fighting the leash, he decided he loves going for walks now and we have to take him (and Smiley and Daisy) out every day even with the fenced back yard.

I pet sit for a couple of people and let them decide how much they pay. I have one person that I sit for that pays $10 a day (her cat is about 18 yrs. old) to one that I have given up arguing with - the last time I sat for her 4, she was gone for 5 days, and gave me $100.

I wish we had someone local that I could rely on as a pet sitter. We pay $20 a day for each of the dogs (I think) and $28 for Pachie because he needs meds. Normally Pachie would be $18 but they charge more to administer meds. That's why we don't leave without them much any more. Just their care runs us $68 per day...

We don't really go anywhere any more and when we do, my Mom comes over to stay with the dogs. Sometimes we have to sacrifice going places but their unconditional love is worth it.
