I have zero experience with Canon repair services, but am considering picking up a used 5d. If the mirror replacement hasn't happened on it and I don't get a receipt/not covered under any sort of warranty, would I still be eligible for the service, or would I have to pay some fee?
Would it be any faster if I brought it in directly to the Irvine Repair Center?

To my knowledge, I think they do it if you have a 5D, regardless of what paperwork you have. All 5D's should be covered. I just picked one up without the mirror fix, but I live 40 minutes away from the Irvine Service Center. I'm probably just going to go drop it off.

All 5Dc needs this recall service fix.

I had good experience with New Jersey service center. I got mine fixed for a total of 5 days (includes weekend) from / to Wisconsin / NJ

Thanks a lot for your reply
How do I find the nearest service center. I am located in Florida. There might be one near by.
Also how do I find if my body was devices or not?
After reading your stories I'll have to do this asap
Thank you

and enter your postal code.

I imagine that Canon has a list of the serial numbers of teh cameras that have been fixed. I would hope they can tell you if its been done or not.

If they can't you can just have it sent in for a free cleaning if nothing else.

My 5D was out of warranty (over 3 years old.). It recently failed on a Saturday. Sent it to NJ Canon on Monday. Came back the following Monday, with mirror fixed/camera cleaned/etc. Thank you NJ Canon for your help. BTW: no charge.
