the person holding a mark I has a smile on this face. the person holding a mark II has a grin.

Is this a troll post or is the OP seriously asking this question? Because the Mark II has "II" painted on the lens body while the Mark I does not.

This is not a troll post, I just want to make sure, I haven't see I or II in person.

II has a fatter manual focus wheel. And the lens hood looks cooler. ;)

When you look through the Mk II at 2.8 you can see through space and time.

1) different hood shape with locking button on Mk2
2) different hood material and less prone to scuff on Mk2
3) "II" printed on the silver ring near the front element
4) wider width of focus ring on Mk2
5) "70-200" printed on side of window thingamagijgy on the Mk2 whereas on top on the Mk1
6) lens tapers down smoothly in Mk2 whereas Mk1 tapers down straight
7) "image stabilizer" text placement is different

and you can see through space and time...

If you still can't tell, then I'll sell you uhmm, a brand new, unopened "Mark II" for $2100. I'll even buy it directly and have it shipped to your place.
