wow... even though it is a good price, I would've paid the extra hundreds for the waranty and also the peace of mind :D

Always be careful when "It is too good to be true"

I'd rather pay the extra $300 for piece of mind.

I do have a gray unit D700 here... sometimes, people like me don't have a choice, there is a $600 difference between a local unit and a gray unit here in our country. so I bought the gray with a 1 year store warranty.

the box did not came sealed, and the chargers and everything else are all genuine Nikon... and it even has a warranty card, just not from Nikon Philippines.

I would say, $600 difference is a lot of money, but like what Mokofoko posted, you could've gotten the 7D for around $1250 with warranty already... and no chance of being fooled around.

goodluck on your purchase though, and start shooting :)

It could even have 20-30k on the shutter, how would you know

If you were close to a canon repair center, you could have them check the shutter count--other than that, you could always check the continuous shutter count after the first image. Assuming the last user didn't manually reset it, it'd be a good gauge of how many images were taken.

howdy...in this Japanese city there are two 7Ds for sale at a local pawn shop type place though they sometimes get new items...and the box of one of the 7Ds is in fact wrapped in plastic. They have it in a display case and I didn`t ask them to take it out for me since I`m still trying to decide what I`m going to do...get a 7D...a 5D...or just get better glass for my 40D. The other box has been opened and is about $100.00 less...I`m thinking it`s used while the wrapped one is new. My 40D box did not have plastic but that may have been the shop staff who opened it `cause when I got it home there was no charger so they had to get me one. That was about 2 years ago and I`m still using and loving the 40D...but feel it`s time to upgrade. I`m contemplating the EF24-105mm F4L IS USM or the 7D...theres about $400.00 difference so I`e been doing a lot of reading on line and biding my time...not going to rush into anything. Checked into the EF24-70mm F2.8L USM but it`s nearly 2 grand here. The 5D MKII 24-105 kit is going for 358,000 yen...what ever that is in your currency...it`s a lot in this one. If I go for that I`ll have to get a flash so that`ll be more dough. Still, it`s fun reading up on all this stuff and I will make up my mind soon.

mostly outdoor stuff...temples and shrines around town, travel photos...landscapes, architecture etc...sometimes my brother in law`s girls which would mostly be indoors in low light. Sometimes moving subjects like dancers, people and festivals around the city. Rarely shoot sporting events, occasionally shoot flowers and take pics of my guitars outdoors.

Yikes, I feel bad for the sucker who paid $1350 for a used 7D without warranty when they could have gotten a brand new one with warranty for $1420.

+1 but I guess you can't help it if people don't do their research

$1,420 where?

ASavings, which is an authorized retailer. They regularly have 7ds available on ebay (sold out atm, but a relist is imminent). The next lowest NEW one is $1450. When bing was available, I got one through them, and it came to $1270 after bing/mrrebates/e-bucks. Paid through Visa, so the initial 1-year warranty was doubled to 2-years.

Adorama has a refurb for $1410 which includes a 1-year warranty.
