My daughter has a computer she dumps her Canon pics to (desktop). She did a windows (Vista) update and now it takes about 7 to 10 minutes to boot.

I can't help because I stayed far away from vista and have no experience.

I googled and found out she is not alone by a far shot, but found no real solutions either.

Just thought somebody here might have experience or suggestions for this problem. Thanks.

Try unplugging external drives and running AV programs. Vista only took 30s-1:30 min to boot on my really slow laptop, so no reason for that to happen. Of course, the first restart after the update will always be slower.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Thanks.

She's rebooted 5-10 times since update. All slow.

But - she told me she may have manually shut the system off during that time windows updates after the first reboot after the download.

she's done a system restore and still has the problem.

I told her restore may not (also) back out drivers and that may be the problem.

Usually just has to do with USB drives starting up, check that first.
