Will the basic MacBook work well for editing?

That has nothing to do with photoshop though, it's entirely OS based. And that scratch is shared by all programs running and the OS, so often an extra 4gb won't do that much if you are already having some other programs open.

Still undecided... My sister comes in from out of town next week, Im going to download lightroom to her computer and give it a shot.

Just bought a 13.3" New MBP for my GF with roughly the same specs as the one you linked above, except newer body, battery and video card.. I think its pretty fast already for normal work and editing.

and I did install win7 on the New MBP through bootcamp, its pretty easy... coz GF need to install 1 program that is not available on mac.
