The custom setting is C.FnIII.4 "AI Servo AF tracking method" where you've got a choice of 0. Main focus point priority, or 1. Continuous AF track priority.

0 holds whatever you've started tracking for as long as it can if you follow it, and
1 swaps to anything else that comes in front of whatever you were tracking previously

I had mine on 0 to follow the horse and tend to ignore the "furniture."

I'll try slowing down the tracking for other events as we've got a few more agricultural shows coming up :)

I wasn't complaining about the system - I'm still learning with 'real' subjects rather than just taking shots of cars passing the house to practice panning...

You sure speeding up the servo is a good idea? I shoot on the slowest setting and never a problem, I can track a dog over many obstacles without losing them, you should easily nail a horse.

I also have mine set as slow as it will go and never have a problem.

All the birds I have posted this week can be found around this fruit-bearing tree that we planted over a decade ago. I am so happy that we did this as I have a birding place that is walking distance. ;D

This was photographed in the Philippines

The Asian Glossy Starling (Aplonis panayensis) is a species of starling in the Sturnidae family. It is found in Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. There are also a huge number of this species inhabits towns and cities, where they take refuge in abandoned buildings and trees. They often move in large groups and considered as one of the noisiest species of birds.

All the more reason to keep it quiet I reckon.
