Jim, that looks like a fun lens. On the 5D, it should be amazing.

How are you all today? I'm going to be leaving beautiful CA tonight. I don't know if I like the clouds every morning, but it's so cool, I'd live with it. I'm heading home and it's all good, but hot. I should be excited to see my house and sleep in my own bed. Vacations are great but 3 weeks is too much. Next time we'll do it a week at a time.

Suzie, I agree! The shot on the previous page and the one below were shot with a 5D and the 15MM f/2.8 EF Fisheye. I wouldn't have bought this lens but for a $400 discount (thanks to AMEX) it was an easy decision. It will be fun to stick in the bag for weddings and group events...and, if you ever need one you know where to borrow it from :)

You, Ken, and the kids have a safe trip home!

Thanks. In a few hours we're heading to the airport. It should be a fast 5 hour trip home, but I'm already tired. I trust you kept the hot weather going, Jim?

Yesterday, was my son's birthday. He was kind of upset we didn't do anything special for dinner, so we're heading to Olive Garden on Monday. So, business as usual in our home come Monday. I don't know why he complained. We spent the day in Chinatown in SF and ate everything in sight. He just like Italian food. :)

Hi. Chris, I'll look at your work this weekend, because my internet keeps cutting off at my sisters.

How is everyone? Heading home tomorrow. I am loving CA. The temps here are too good, in the 60s all week. Back to my 90+ Virginia, but I'm missing my bed. So, I'll just say, I'd love to live in CA part of the time. :) Have a great weekend everyone!

Suzie, the coast is cool during the summer but HOT October-December. The inlands are roasting all summer....5-6 months of 90's up to 112 degrees. You definitely went to the right spots for cool weather. We are having a "cool down" this week. High of 93. :)

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Today it's not too bad here, but it was surprising how my allergies came right back from the time we landed. I'm home and sleepy, so I'll talk to you all more tomorrow.

Greetings from Roanoke, VA...I'm here on business for the next three days.

Suzie, cool photos.

Tom, for you...NS freight train moving through the Roanoke Yards about a block from my hotel. This was taken at 7:30PM through a window on the walkover from the hotel to downtown Roanoke. A G11 moment.

I miss the Shenandoah Valley. I did my undergrad at JMU and my graduate work at VT. I miss that area more than anything else. Michigan has NOTHING on the Appalachian mountains.

We stayed there for Train Day and a night shoot of 1218 at the Link Museum (external link). Pop over there if you can find a few hours free. Or browse the photos on-line at their web site.

Nice, Jim. On Business and staying in such a nice hotel. I was at school today waiting for Greg, he was taking a math test to jump 2 grades. Sitting with another Mom and she said her husband sent her a photo via her cell phone of a sunset in sunny San Diego last night. I almost cried. Five days in SD and it never was clear at night. Oh well. I guess I'll have to go there again. :)

Adam,

Nice photos! Q. In the "future" photo how did you achieve that soft & dreamy effect? I really liked that.

Jim,

Thank you. I use the Onone suite.

I am in Virginia Beach now.

The Link Museum is wonderful. I went there shortly before leaving the area and wished I had found it earlier.
