Nice lightning, tried to get some today but the cloud layer was too low here so i just got a big diffused flash once every 20 seconds

Speaking of traveling. We were on the road and came across Cadillac Ranch, just outside Amarillo, TX.

I've always found the AF to be very fast and accurate regardless of lighting situation. (granted it can't focus w/o some light on the subject). That said, whether f/2.8 is wide/fast enough for Rave environment is another thing. But if you're shooting with a speedlite w/ flash-assist lamp, won't be a problem.

I recently took my T2i with the 17-55 on a 13 mile hike to the summit of 10, 541' Glacier Peak in Washington state, some pretty harsh conditions with wind, heat, cold etc..

When I got home I noticed when I turnded the focus ring it had a little sound to it like some fine grit/dust may have gotten under the ring.

Is there any way to take the ring off and clean under it? I tried some canned air and it may have helped a little. I was hoping to avoid sending it into Canon for repair and have seen others on the site take their lenses apart for various reasons. Has anyone encounterd this?
