Hmmm....

Been thinking about a 50mm f1.4 or a 100mm/60mm macro or 'gulp' a 300mm f2.8...

I'm sure I could make use of these, but some are obviously more within (financial) range than others..

I'm thinking of getting a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. I don't use my 100mm macro as much as I thought I would, might sell it and get the UWA zoom. I used to have a 16-35 when I had an EOS3 and loved that lens. Every time I look at the sample photos thread for the 10-22 I want one even more.

After getting more and more into nature photography, and finding my 70-300 mm simply doesn't reach as far as needed, I'm seriously considering taking a good hard look at the Canon 100-400mm.
I'll probably rent a copy soon.
The 70-200 f/2.8 is a dreamy lens as well, but I think I'd rather get the 100-400 and maybe the 100mm or 180mm Macro.

The 100-400 is an excellent lens. I have a 300 2.8 as well, but the 100-400 is a great walk around lens as it's lighter and gives a lot of range. The only thing to remember is that the 100-400 cannot be coupled to the 1.4x or 2x extenders and retain autofocus.

Canon 50D gripped, EF 50/1.8, EF-S 10-22, 17-40L, 24-105L, 70-200 f/2.8L, 100/2.8 macro, 100-400L, 300 2.8L, Canon 500 f8 mirror with chipped EF mount, 580EX, 1.4x and 2x Canon teleconverters, Canon EF Life-Size converter.

I hope Canon comes up with another zoom as good as the new 70-200 II. That's what I'll get.

Either the Tokina 12-24, or the Tamron 17-50 non vc. But I have really been wondering if the 24-105 L will give me a big IQ boost over my current 28-135is, and thinking about that as well.

Thanks for the info, Richard.

I don't know much about what you 'can', and 'can't' do with them, as far as extenders and such.
Based on what I 'plan' to shoot more of, I'm kinda thinking that the reach of the 100-400 would be about the max that I'd ever really need.

Does the same thing about the 100-400mm and extenders hold true with the 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS?

Mine is going to be a 70-200 f/2.8 (not sure if it will be IS or not). Or a 17-55 f/2.8

I would only consider it in IS. Its unreal how necessary IS is when at 200mm, especially on a crop.

No next lens. Just going to enjoy what I have now. I really do feel maxed out on lenses.
