It'll take a little to figure out how to work their system and all but it'll give you a better understanding. their "hour" is a little restricted and can easily be 30 minutes longer after or before respectively for general shooting. Best method is to show up about 1:30 before sunset until you get the idea down.

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 @ f/1.4...

i like the light in this -- warm and dark in the back ground, yet the sidewalk is still lit crisp and cool. how did you get that?
btw, that lens is next on my rent list, can't wait to compare it to the canon 35 1.4L (that i rented, not purchased).

Thanks. Basic setup actually, bare SB800 shot into umbrella camera left. If it werent a goth (dark) type shoot I would have gelled the flash but I wanted the difference between warm and cool. Ive only had the Sigma for a couple weeks now but LOVE IT! Cant compare it to the Canon because Ive never used one.

Here's one with the 7D and the trusty Sigma 50mm 1.4 - Just love this lens , temperamental but great results when its treated right. Natural light. RAW image converted to jpeg with a little sharpening but otherwise no adjustments in Lightroom.

ISO 200
ƒ1.4
