I can understand all the reasons why many people don't want a forum for non-Canon cameras, but I think it would be useful to have a forum for non-Canon lenses with a Canon mount.

One of the main reasons we discuss the various Canon lenses on POTN, and have a forum for sample photos taken by those lenses, is so that we can make decisions on which lenses to purchase. Given that there are more non-Canon lenses available for our cameras than Canon-brand ones, I think this is a good enough reason for at least a sub-forum, if not a main one.

Anyone else agree with me?

Would be nice to have a little section as part of the main forum especially for things like mods.

The EF and EF-S lens Forum is for all lenses that can be mounted on your Canon camera. You'll notice that non-Canon-brand lenses are also included in the sample archive.

Nahh don't really see the need. And where would a post go if someone wants to compare non-canon lens with a canon lens? It would be more confusing than helping as sometimes the thread would go in the canon forum and other times in the non-canon forum. The current EF & EF-S lens forum is just fine as it is.

That'll teach me to look before I leap. I saw the name "Canon EF and EF-S Lenses" and jumped to the wrong conclusion. Sorry about that. I think this thread can be closed.

EF and EF-s refer to the current crop of Canon mounts the only other Canon mount in current use is the FD. There are many different lens manufacturers that offer such lenses like Tamron, Sigma, Tokina and the like.

If you want a section for non Canon mounts then you are currently in the wrong place. Such offerings will not happen until the Forum software is updated.

I understand what EF and EF-S means, and I know there are other manufacturers...
I was referring to other mounts like FD, M42, Nikon, Hasselblad and any other "Whatever" to EOS adapter you can find... If there is an adapter to put a lens on a Canon, I'm sure there is someone who would like to share their experience and photos...

And the forum doesn't need to be updated to add another Section or Sub-Section "Non EF or EF-S Lenses"...

:-)

Once a lens is adapted to operate on a modern Canon camera it becomes a defacto Canon lens. I don't see a separate section ever being created in the near future.

Check the stickies in the LF - there's info on adapting non-Canon mount lenses to the EOS in there as well.
