Just curious as to how many of you play music during your shoots. I was thinking of hooking up a computer to a pair of speakers and asking the model what band they like and just putting Pandora on.

In the studio, I do it all the time. I have a special play list of upbeat and fun songs about photography - I've never had a model complain and most say they enjoy the music. Now, if I were shooting a more moody set of images, I'd use a different set of songs. Played at the right volume, it works well and doesn't interfere with commnunications.

I shoot bellydancers - I always ask them to bring a selection of their own music. If they don't, I have a collection (my wife is also a dancer).

If it's another kind of shoot, I'll put easy going current popular music on, unless they pick otherwise.

Music is a BIG thing for us when shooting. We have a Bose system like the one pictured. We have an iPod with lots and lots of music but always ask the models to bring their own. We can even plug in their iPhones and that way they can listen to their favorite music. This setup is not cheap but it does sound amazing and it's very portable. I highly recommend it.

Always have music going during a shoot. Not super loud, but enough to make the shoot more relaxed.

I do that if I'm shooting in the studio. Makes the environment much more relaxed. :)

If I don't have music, I don't shoot. Period.

Music sets the mood. I posted on my blog with a small sample of my playlists.

music helps not only calm the model, but also helps calm the photog in my opinion. i shoot with music a good bit with my automotive shoots and it helps.

Ask them to bring music, they'll be looser with music that they're used to.
