They just aired a story on the local station about the above gear including a serious custom camera bag and tripod that had been found locally and was turned in to local RCMP 4 weeks ago, but still has had no claims on it yet. Pretty crazy, I'm not Sure who wouldn't miss that rig. It would seem an obvious assumption that it didn't originate locally if no one has even reported it missing yet. I thought it worth posting here incase someone may know something or someone who may be missing this gear. FWIW Contact Victoria RCMP branch with details.
:p

I wonder is there are BEAR TRACKS around where the camera was found.

Sometimes you get the bear, and on a bad day the bear gets you!

Did they actually name the gear on TV?

Man, I'd love being the guy who just forgot about that rig. (I'd hate being him if it's for other reasons, which is most likely).

Having enough money to be able to forget that

I wonder if they'll auction it off if no one claims it?

I seen on A channel as well.

They showed the whole set up. It was a good 2 minute story where they showed the whole rig in detail. It was likely stashed by someone that shouldn't have had it to begin with I imagine.

This seems like a good time to remind everyone serial numbers are a good thing to keep track of, I'm guessing this gear has traveled a long way.

Wow. I wonder if something happened to the owner. I cannot imagine someone walking away from something like that.

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!

I fear for the owner. They best start looking at the missing person reports.

Seriously, has anyone tired to contact Canon and telling them the lens' serial number? Maybe it has been registered through Canon. Maybe Canon can give the original own a call and reminding him or her that he or she has forgotten their 500L.....???

They should check the CF card:

Pictures of bear. Bear getting closer. Bear OOF and running towards camera...
