Yet another First Wedding...

Just a friend of mine, getting married for the 2nd time, grand total of 8 guests, very laid back, she had her ideas on "her style" (soft focus!! ahhhhh!) for sure and the groom rushed through everything, DYING to get out of the hot heat (though it was only shortly after dawn). learned a lot, not sure weddings are for me necessarily, but there are som edecent images imo for a first timer and the bride and groom loved them, which is a good start.

I really like the idea of each photo, but I can't say I like the soft focus that was requested. Also, the last three have some seriously blown out whites that are driving me nuts!

^ I agree and that last one actually hurts the eyes to look at?

Soft focus was done PP because I cant say I like it either. She loves it, but I gave her copies of both to compare the soft focus with the solid, in focus, sharper images.
I had a lot of trouble with the thick trees and the sun coming up fast...I had a reflector that I used for a few photos (ones not shown here) and used some fill flash here and there, but WHERE she wanted photos done within the park was killing me, lighting wise because of the blow outs and the drastic differences between sun and shade in spots rather than in whole areas. I know I'm new and learning more and more, but I knew from behind the lens that day and the way the sun was coming in that I could only control the images I WANTED to get, not the ones SHE wanted to get so I did the best I could...but ideas to help me learn more under those lighting conditions would be great.

I guess you as the photographer has to be firm but gentle in knowing where and when to get the best photos for the bride and groom.They, not knowing the lighting issues etc are not going to make to best desicions for you...it would be a fine line I guess.but be strong!

Definitely something I learned from this to say the least!

If the soft focus was done in pp, perhaps tone it back a bit? At least keep the people in focus? You can soften them a bit without it looking like nothing is in focus. It's hard I know but Flo is right, you want to give them a good photo and sometimes brides don't know how to communicate what they want.

As the photographer, you are in a difficult position.

The fourth one is the best in the series. IMO...

Yep - yet another thing I learned - the stress of pleasing them and at the same time, trying to do things technically right when they have no idea what I'm worried about.
