Congrats.. I was saving for months for the Sigma with OS, and then sold a bunch of stuff that allowed me to get this lens. I have not 1 regret with spending the extra amount on this lens..

Oh but I am one of them po folks LOL and I just got home from work and not 45 minutes ago I took my first shot and I can tell you this now I think I finally found the perfect lens LOL Well almost

I am a body over lens man myself. Lenses are nice but a 5D classic with a $100 lens will always take better photos than a 50D with $2,000 L glass. I am sure that will cause lots of people to disagree with me, but I have shot both side by side so many times and never seen a FF body ever be outclassed by a crop body, even with junk lenses on the FF and high end lenses on the crop. Ahh...the days when I used to be able to afford FF (i.e. before marriage/kids, lol)

Ok I have taken a few junk shots and they seem to be very good but I am wondering if anyone notices that this lens makes a little different noise? I had a 4 IS about a year and a half ago and it kind of reminded me of that lens but not like the 2.8 IS I had. It appears to happen more when I take a shot like off my deck then lower the lens. It's like maybe the AF is making the noise, I will go to Seattle and see if anyone their has one to compare with. I am not really worried about it though as I had a 300 4 IS that kind of made the same noise but not the clunking sound that the 300 makes

Heck yeah I ordered it from J&R and they have some great shipping rates. I had over night for only $31 from NY to Washington State where we all enjoy our high taxes LOL

Please give us some opinions when you get a chance to take some photos with it! Sadly I didn't wait for the price drops and paid in full for mine, but no regrets here it's a wonderful piece of glass!

I am very impressed with it even though I have only taken a few junk shots around the house mostly of things on my neighbors house LOL But the AF is fast, colors are great and it's sharp even at 2.8

Whoops just saw ur opinions a few posts back! Mine us near silent with the IS on. Perhaps it is normal as someone once asked me about the same noise coming from his copy as well.
