Does Canon still have this program? Would like to trade my Rebel XT+ cash (I can't see anything from the small viewfinder and LCD display on this camera anymore.) for something like a 40D refurb.

I called in this AM about it, and to get a 50D body was 719.00, 50D w/ 28-135 was 839.00. They also have 7D body for 1119.00
There were other options but I didn't ask about prices.

I called 1-866-443-8002 but they have to transfer you for DLSR's

After speaking to the rep, I asked about a direct #. He told me to call 1-800-828-4040 (customer support) and mention loyalty program.

I think, even if you turn in your broken point and shoot, they will offer the same thing. Just ask them before you send your Xt.

they will ask you what model you are wanting to use as "trade-in" and go over available options with you. Once you receive your replacement, then you mail your unit back to them.

Also, check THIS (external link) post on fatwallet.com, alot of info on this program.

Yes, they still have this program--you can google it and get all the information you need off the canon site. There have been threads about this before...

I wonder if I should do this for my upgrade to a 7d refurb. My 30d would still be a great backup, but it would collect dust most of the time. Plus I'm thinking someday my 7d will be the backup to a 1div or something :P

Depending on how much they'd give me, maybe it'd even make a 5d2 more affordable.

I've seen other 7d refurbs around for $1400 though, so the deal would have to be pretty good.

edit: nevermind just read it, it's only XT and some point and clicks. :/ It's made to basically get newbs to stay canon after their xt/point and clicks.

actually you can trade your 30D into the program. i thought about doing that, but ended up trading in my G6 that was collecting dust. i still love and use my 30D, so very hard for me to part with it. especially it's the 17-55 that's keeping me so in love with 30D. now they are great together with my 5DMK2.

the most you will get a credit on your broken camera is about $400. so a 7D would be around 1179, 5DMK2 @ 1635 or so before tax.
