I have an XSI, recently saw deal on fatwallet for Made camera armor for the xsi for $12 from Cameta Camera. Looked on amazon but no reviews. Is the armor a pain, or is it easy to take on and off, and does it protect it from a fall?

i was wondering same thing. Ive seen that armor go for 45-50 bucks, so they have came down way in price. I actually took one out of a box at a local walmart and they seemed kind of flimsy like maybe bag wear, etc would stretch them out and make them not so snug on camera.

I haven't seen anyone ever really use one of those. You figure, unlike cell phones, iPods, and other small devices, a camera doesn't really get thrown around allot to warrant an armor like that. I think a d-slr looks allot nicer without any such casing.

This probably sums it up rather well.

don't bother. i know you want to keep your XSi looking nice and new, but i've had one for over a year and a half and it doesn't even have a scratch. unless you're the type of person that drops everything all the time, the armor is a waste of money and doesn't look good either.

unless you work in a dirty/ dusty environment. Then you get the dirt in between the case and camera...case moves around ever so slightly and starts scratching the camera.

i got one of those "camera armor" deals with an XSi i purchased off a friend for a beater camera, and it came off immediately upon getting it home. I thought it might be a cool idea, but it makes holding the camera awkward; moving your fingers to change the aperture and shutter speed (the rubber snags in the wheel) and you can't get any high end lenses on the camera itself without significant fiddling (the rubber hole is a little too small for the kit lens, but it has enough play to lock in; any L primes or zooms you are gonna need to break out the scissors or exact o knife, and will probably just remove it)

its a cool idea, but your camera has more buttons than an iPhone, and you need to get to them easier (if you were constantly removing the back of an iPhone, no one would use an otter box either)

I have known several people who swore by them and Ive played around with it a bit. I really didnt like it at all. I find dust and other debris stick to the rubber, if anything does get in between the armor and the body it WILL scratch the heck out of it and youll never know because youll leave the armor on forever thinking its protecting the body. Also what is it supposed to protect exactly? Add cushion from a drop? Well personally if I drop my camera Im more concerned with the LENS than the body as most of my lenses are now worth more than the body! Also I have never had a body gets scratched or messed up cosmetically. JUST TAKE CARE OF YOUR INVESTMENT! Lastly, take that $50 and put it towards your first year of INSURANCE. Then and only then you can truly shoot carefree :)

OP, if you really want this... pm me and paypal me just a couple bucks for postage and i'll send it over to you... still cheaper than $15.00

it's a rubber case for XSi, black... it may have a small 1/8" tear somewhere but still works.

i've moved on to a 7D and even in the days of having an xsi, i never used it.

I used one on my Xti. It gave a little extra piece of mind but I am very careful with my gear and never toss it around. If you want protection for times when its in a bag, etc. take a look at the optech neoprene body/lens covers as well as the Domke or Tenba wraps.

I was given some Camera Armor for my Xti and it made the camera too big. I also didn't like how it no longer smoothly slid into my camera bag. The rubber gripped everything. I have not babied my Xti and after years it still looks awesome.

If you must know...
