I used to 40D for some time, the file is much less 3D, the crop-camera cut the best part of this lens ... IMHO ;), but colors and contrast very similar.

Is a representation, within the walls of the medieval castle town of Castiglione Garfagnana (Tuscany,Italy) showing the daily life of 1200.
They are Theatre Company, street performers, with medieval clothing.

I can honestly say, that would have been my first guess! I wanted to be accurate, but instead i decided to guess, and ask! i apologize for the low knowledge of your area! thanks for the reply!

Here's a new one from today. I'm a sucker for vignetting, that was on purpose :)

Wow, this thread is amazing... LOL... I think this lens could really compliment my lineup. I hope to join this thread soon...

So, just out of curiosity, are focus shifting issues obsolete with the newer UX and UY lenses?

No, they aren't, but with most lenses they should be well within the focus accuracy limits of 1/3 of an f-stop.

And yeah, it'll fit well with your current line-up (it does with mine :D). Just add a TS-E 17 to the short FL side, and you're about done :D ;)

Kind regards, Wim

Here's something I found while walking around Old Town Temecula the other day.

The focus shift will never go away unless they redesign the lens. It can be frustrating (I know this because I've bought and sold this lens 3 times now) but the later models do seem to be better wide-open. I have had a UV a UX and now a UY copy. The UX was certainly good, better than my UV, but I think I am happiest with the UY. It is quite possible that it's all in my imagination but it just seems to work better. I have no quantifiable evidence to support my feelings though.

It has its quirks, but honestly it really is a great lens. I've tried so many 50mm lenses over the last year that just never made me smile like this lens does. It's my third trip around, but I'm going to stay this time.

f/1.6 Very harsh lighting. Would definitely like to revisit during better hours. Grandpa-in-law is buried here at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. WWII/Korea vet. RIP.
