Got a reply from the CR Guy on the PR post:

"...Bad rumor, it comes from a Calumet employee... folks that have zero clue about what's coming, especially that far into the future. I try not to post them all..."

I hope they really made an effort to improve the basic ISO dynamic range.
This is a 1Ds model, not usually used for ISO 10 million...
I want more range in ISO 100-400, that's all I use, ever.
Better shadows mostly. That's all really, 39MP sounds great to me.

39mpx is a 18+mpx jump from the older model. lol. thats almost a double ^_^ not gonna happen. 1Ds4 is gonna have 29.7 (or .9 or .1 lol) with Digic4s and 32mpx with digicV. 29mpx sounds about right. Canon has never made a bigger jump in mpx anyways.

As I've already stated, less than 32MP and I'm not going to play. I'll take my ball home and sulk. If 39MP means I wait another 6 months, then its a price worth paying.

Maybe I need to wait another 3 years, until the 1Ds mk 5 arrives. Again, if need be I can wait. I don't have to buy anything.

something tells me that if you can wait that long, you dont actually need that camera at all ^_^ lol. 39mpx is medium format territory from a couple of years ago. Lets be realistic in this thread. 29mpx sounds very nice and it'll have improved DR if to believe canon. I'll gladly take 2mpx less and have much better DR and IQ then only go for the mpx. also 32 vs 29.7 is just ... I don't even think if you re gonna notice the difference.

Plus one. You won't be able to tell the difference between 30 and 32 MP. :)

1Ds4 like the 1Ds3 will be optimised for low ISO quality and detail I'm sure.

~30mp, mebe they will cut the AA filter or make it realy weak.

I have a feeling Canon will remove the AA filter too. :)

no, it's not "a double".
from 5616 x 3744 to 7650 x 5100 is not such a huge jump at these resolutions.
Bumping a few pixels on each side makes no sense. Even from the marketing pov.
What's the point of going from 5616 x 3744 to let's say 6500 x 4300? Barely noticeable...

^ yep - remember this body will have to be the top of the line for canon for 3 years and its supposed to push the low end MF market too.

Canon went from 10mp (40D) to 18mp(7D) in what 2 years..

If you want higher resolution go Digital MF instead. :)

We all know this doesn't last long in the digital game. :)

It's gonna happen for sure. 40+ mp is even more likely at this time.
