"How can Nikon can be run by smart people and Canon gets some marketing folks to run the company"??

Nikon fell asleep some years ago, to the extent that Canon no longer perceived them as a threat and Nikons market share started falling. Then they woke up and we have a resurgent Nikon. Something similar has affected Canon more recently and they had been responding. Maybe the response has been too little too late? Who Knows, only time will tell.

I don't, I really don't. I luv canon's glass. I just don't understand how two most influential companies in DSLR market can be run totally different from each other. How can Nikon can be run by smart people and Canon gets some marketing folks to run the company?? Its not like they can't do it, its just they don't do it properly. Even Sony is run in a smarter way this years ...

EDIT:
I figured it out!! thats it!! Nikon is run by canon's old CEO that was fired in a way for a new from Segate. The Canon's old CEO, who was doing a great job back then now moved to Nikon to get back at Canon. Canon hired Segate CEO, that can only understand MPX and GB/TBs so he alwyas goes for the more mpx, the better so eventually people will run out of space on their hard drives and they're gonna have to buy new Segate drives. its just a one big conspiracy.

You need help Marek. ;) You're so caught up in the technology bug that whatever Canon releases is not good enough for you. Take whatever Canon has and have fun with it. Do I think my current 1Ds MK III could be improved? I think so. Is there a conspiracy going on in Canon? I have no clue. :)

This is what I agree with!

but with Nikon Fx you can have the FF benefits and then it has a crop mode, just in case you need it. I can't make 1D4 FF by pressing a button :( I was expecting canon to go FF with 1D5 but the news that they are still developing 1.3 crop sensors doesn't sound good to me at all. :( I hate nikon but at least they have some clear future ahead. Canon is just going bananas lately. If 1Ds4 is nothing short of revolutionary ( and it won't be ) I'm gonna stop caring about canon world at all. They worst thing is that I want these mpx and Nikon doesn't have any answer for it at all. Unless you have $8k in your pocket. Also it doesn't seem to change anytime in the near future since Sony is making sensors for Nikon. ehhh ...

Seagate lol

I have ADD big time ^_^

ehhh, guys. I was thinking about switching to nikon but it just makes no sense. $8k D3x that is in no way better then the good ol 1Ds3. then the price of lenses. D3s is magical. It is perfect camera that will go on forever but I can't give up all the mpx. no matter what nikon users say, I couldn't just live with a 12mpx sensor. So I'm excited again for 1Ds4. A camera that I have no $$ for. lol, but I think it'll be a good investment. Pro body with 1D4 AF, 29/32mpx, 5fps, superbIQ and hopefully much better DR. That sort of a camera can go on forever as well. I mean 1Ds3 will not suddenly stop making great images even when 1Ds4 is released. The new question is, just how to get $$ for it. lol. even if I sell one of my 5ds and some zooms, I'll probably still be missing some :(

Mastamerek,

Got any offspring you could sell into slavery? Alternatively you could become a Banker, they seem to get rich winning or loosing! But then the origins of banking in Italy had criminal roots, basically Cosimo decided he was sick of being put into prison, so decided to start lending money to the influencial burghers of Florence who would then stand to loose out if they locked him up. It worked a treat then and continues to do so to this day.

I am luckier, I've known the 1Ds was coming and have been saving my pennies, so have £5k tucked away already and should have a further £1k to add to it by the end of the sailing season. That will not be enough, but I should be able to sweet talk my wife into letting me use some of our shared savings to make up the difference. Any delay in its release will only help me.

Got any extra in the bank for me? ;)

Central banking is an evil that I wish we could do away with, but our materialistic society has made them -- unfortunately -- a necessary one. The fact that 215 families possess roughly 70% of the money in the world just repulses me.

Anyway, hurry up 1Ds IV -- revolutionary or not. I want to see the 1Ds III sales panic post-announcement already!

Oh, I love how some just believe that their cameras are technologically obsolescent and incapable of producing good pictures when a new body from a line they fancy is announced.

The richest 1% of society hold 40% of global wealth, so them are some pretty large families if 215 of them make up more than 1% of the world's population (over 65,000,000 people)

I've got my 1ds IV reserved; Had an opportunity to pick up a 1ds3 for $3,100 earlier this month. Missed it tho :(

Yeah, it was around 40%. My apologies for the crude exaggeration but yes, the families have vast lifelines and that number would not be a fabrication.

I'm looking forward to sub-$3,000 pricing for a used 1Ds III. It doesn't have to be much under, but it does have to be under. I'm not a fan of spending ridiculous amounts of money on bodies that gradually drop in value but have absolutely no problem investing in optics (and I do mean investing).

The only reason I can justify buying a new 1ds IV, is that if i buy it new, i get bonus depreciation as a tax credit equal to roughly 50% of the equipment value; in addition to the normal 20%; so come January, i get ~66% of teh $8,000 i spent back in a lower tax bill; It's like getting a brand new 1DsIV for $2640.00, if i buy a used body i would only get a 20% of the purchase price back, so a $3000 1Ds III would cost $2400 after credits. (which would you choose? if this takes more than 1 second to decide, I don't know what to tell you)

I don't know how you manage that, but in your shoes, I'd be picking up two 1Ds IVs upon release.

Jus' saying.
