Didnt know this, thats pretty lame actually.

go down to the "Continuous Shooting and Buffering" section.

like I said, I was all for that camera on paper and in sony's promo video, but then I read the review and it falls FLAT on it's face for anything action oriented which is/was the point....

I didn't expect much in the MP increase, 15 is fine on my 50D. So 18 is a improvement. But really , no top lcd, plastic, SD, articulating screen ( what the F*(#(*#$) .

it has a top LCD dude. Take a deep breath and read through dpreviews preview....

I really hope CANON read this and **** themselves...this is poor marketing...not only is not a viable upgrade for 50D users, they have not hurt their T2i sales, as the 60D is so close.

you think canon will be upset when a T2i buyer spends MORE money and grabs one of these? really?
and no place for the 50D buyers to upgrade? The 7D is a hell of an upgrade. I don't think canon expects it's users to all blindly jump to each new model. 40D to 50D didn't make sense. 50D to 60D doesn't either. In the xD line maybe, but it's never made sense on the X0D bodies. They're offering something different. A lot of people felt the 7D WAS the 60D and that canon wouldn't even make one. They basically used the name on what's a somewhat new line for them. It makes a lot of sense if you look at who actually buys their cameras.

Realize PotN is NOT the majority of canon's market. They're selling to soccer moms and dads first. We're just gravy for them (especially those blinded by 1 series, Ls and the "need" for FF).

Heres the other thing Ben, when the new d7000 comes out for around the same price point Canon is screwed with new buyers.

I didn't see anyone mention (in the first 4 pages) that the 60D lacks a flash sync port. That's a deal breaker for me.

but the adapter for the hotshoe? Granted that's got some limitations as well, but for ~$20 you can have the sync port back if that's all you wanted. They did ADD the ability to control flashes with it's onboard, so it's a plus AND a minus... If you want both, get a 7D.

First generation for such a camera, I'll cut them some slack. But at least they tried to do something different, take a risk with the EVF, pellicle mirror, price point, etc. That's the difference, they TRIED something new, they packed it with features, and they sold it for a fair price. Sometimes it seems that Canon is so comfortable with its big market share that it's afraid to innovate. It's really becoming the Toyota of the camera world, and we've seen how that can turn out.

yeah, I'm just hung up because a pellicle mirror camera with 10FPS if implemented correctly could have been amazing. But they failed miserable at the #1 thing this camera would have been used for; action/sequences.... And if you can't do that, what's the point?

Was looking forward to upgrading my current XT after 4.5 years of use. Without spending extra money on other stuff.

Well, over the years, I've collected good number of CF cards, and Canon's move to SD card will make me spend more money on this upgrade (if I pull thru). Even though MSRP on this body is lower priced, after spending extra money on new SD card, it will push that to 1200 to 1300 for sure.

Whereas it makes it a lot CHEAPER for anyone with an XS, XSi, T1i, or T2i... I think switching to the SD card for this camera was a smart move by Canon.

Basically what I'm reading from most people's posts is this:

"ARGH THIS CAMERA DOESN'T MEET MY SPECIFIC NEEDS THEREFORE IT SUCKS"

Sweet news. However, I am a bit disappointed regarding the auto-focus keep been the same 9 point and also the frame per seconds is slower than the 50D. In addition, I am not crazy about the articulated screens. Hence,I will keep saving money to get the 7D.

I think if they would have named it a T3i and priced a bit cheaper than I would understand it being what it is. Either way there isnt anything I see as being spectacular or even kinda interesting.

If anything this is going to make Canon a load of money... everyone who was in line for a XXD is shelling out for a 7D :p

So the pellicle mirror Sony has no real viewfinder, just an electronic one that turns into a slide show at high rate? Epic fail indeed.

I'd hesitate to pan it without trying it, or waiting for a review. After all, people were complaining about the 7D's autofocus system in the beginning too.

There's really nothing wrong with the 60D, if I come off that way, just that there's nothing special or unexpected. Even little inexpensive touches that other companies do that add functionality and value, like a built in viewfinder cover or a mirror lockup button, Canon just doesn't seem to care to include. But boy, we always get the "direct print" button. Marketing at work.

With this camera, Canon is doing what it exactly wanted us to do... Upgrade to the 7D or 5DII

the super rebel will definately sell well to those looking to buy their first dslr.

they'll be able to rationalize the expense better as it has more bells and whistles than the closest competitor.

Talk about epic failure. The a55 is amazing on paper. It had a LOT of potential. But their implementation of it is just terrible.

Makes you wonder why the various reviewers who have used the A55 don't seem to share much of this sentiment.

Yes, and it makes sense because Canon is kind of making this a T2i with some (not all) xxD features - and not a xxD with Rebel features. The problem is fastest SDHC cards available are rated 30MBps, and fastest CF cards available are 90MBps (both Sandisk). That further limits the 5+ fps that 60D claims - as the in-camera buffer can only be emptied 1/3rd as slower. combine with smaller file sizes on 50D, you will see that it is not for a "fast action raw shooter". but then, Canon didnt create 60Dfor a "fast action, raw shooter".
