Mine went something like this:

2004 - Sony Cybershot P&S
2008 - 400D + kit lens
2009 - 50mm f/1.4
20-35mm f/2.8L
430EX ii
2010 - Branched out into film with a Leica M4-P & a few lenses + a Canon EOS 3
5DMkii
85L

Next will probably be either the 24L or 35L, then the 135L, then I should be done for a long time (in theory) ...

I tried to give my old gear to my wife, but she told me to sell it :(

Anyway, here's my journey so far:

T1i body + 18-55 is kit lens
budget telephoto (55-250 IS)
budget prime (50 1.8 )
quality standard zoom (17-55 f/2.8 IS)
UWA (Tokina 11-17 f/2.8
battery grip
flash (580ex)
quality telephoto (70-200 f/2.8 )
macro extension tubes and teleconverters
--reset --
5D mk II
quality standard zoom for full frame (24-70 f/2.8 )

I'm actually happy with my kit right now, and I don't feel any desire to get anything else. It's such a weird and unnatural feeling. I've always craved some piece of gear since I started this hobby and now it's just emptyness

;)
