It looks HUGE in the tiny hands of an Asian.

Nice find. The new 70-300L certainly looks interesting with the barrel extended.

weird with the black first bit of the barrel... And I'm not sure if it's small hands playing into it but it looks quite thick (look how small the rear cap looks in the first shot)?

Find and samples taken with one yet? I'm dying to know where it kicks down from f/4...

They did that on the new super-teles too. I think I read something about issues with the white paint chipping in that area from attaching and removing the hood.

Seems kind of ugly to have a white lens this short. Doesn't fit with their tradition.

Makes you wonder if the lens hood will be able to be reveresed on the 70-300.

canon loooooves hoods wider than they need to be so I'll say it should be able to be flipped. Look at the shot of it on the 5Dii, the hood threads are still out.

What's with Canon's non-petal hood love, too? Would not be surprised to see this have an ugly straight round one like the 70-200 f4's.

Good thing I don't buy my lenses based on appearance, because Canon make fugly lenses, IMO. This one looks like a goofy camcorder zoom to me.

I guess I'll ring in since the nay sayers of this lens are many. Looks good to me honestly. It doesn't look like the old one painted white to me. It looks fatter and shorter to me. Looking forward to this lens!

I think the only thing this has in common with the old one is the words 70-300.
